How should I use this?

Hello!

I have had this in the cupboard for about 100 years and it's about to expire.

No cooking suggestions on the bottle and I'm not sure what to do with it.

Any ideas/inspiration welcome!

How should I use this?

Marinade some beef? Watching with interest as I have a few weird bottles and jars I bought on a whim and don't know what to do with.

I think I'd taste it first. It's on Amazon & seems to be a sauce to be poured over cooked meat.
Otherwise, I might use it to make pulled pork

Ooh pulled pork is a good idea!!! Should I just chuck it in the slow cooker with a shoulder of pork and see what happens?

Well, with that sort of thing, I treat “about to expire” as a challenge to see how long it will last without expiring. Just start using it at your leisure.

Americans are probably likely to use it as a marinade for slow cooked meat such as pork shoulder or belly or beef brisket. If it’s got a lot of sugar, slow cooking will be less inclined to scorch.

These are the ingredients, I see.

Tomato Puree, Sugar, Onions, Spirit Vinegar, Water, Paprika, Tomato Cubes, Modified Starch, Molasses, Apple Juice Concentrate, Salt, Caramelized Sugar Syrup, Garlic, Bourbon Whiskey (0,3%), South American Black Pepper, Smoked Pepper (0,2%), Roasted Onion Extract, Spice, Smoke Flavouring.

I'd be inclined to ignore the best before date on something like that. Anything with a lot of sugar, vinegar, salt and spices will keep for ages. Alternative to ketchup? Squeeze onto sausages, hot dogs?

(Also, it may be 'Made for Meat', but there's no meat in there, or anything else of animal origin, so it's suitable for vegans and vegetarians.)
