Urgent catering?

At really short notice I've been asked to organise a light buffet for a relative's 70th birthday this weekend! I'm just wanting to order some sandwich and wrap platters plus a birthday cake but all the usuals (Morrisons/Sainsburys etc) require 4 days notice. Does anyone know of a big chain where you can walk in and pick up platters? The only one I don't want is Subway as I don't really like their sandwiches.

But if there's any suggestions, would be really grateful! We're northwest!

Costco! I believe they only need 2days notice. Or they may already have platters there. Worth a try

I thought of that but I don't have a Costco card and not sure I qualify for one. 😬

How many people do you need to cater for? Because a quick online shop/whip round any of the big supermarkets would still work if you varied the items more so that it was buyable in a "normal" store? eg add pork pies, mini sausage rolls, crisps, dips, quiches etc...?

Or for Costco - you'd be amazed who has a Costco card so do a quick ask on your favourite WhatsApp groups!? Grin

Yes, definitely Costco. Someone will have a card

Or Gail's if you have a local one, although it might work out a bit pricey.
Local bakery?

What's the lead time on Pret? They're what we always have at work.

You could do a build your own sandwich buffet?

A load of rolls and baguettes, and sliced bread
A load of ham and sliced cheeses
Houmous, etc

Then all you'd have to do (with others!) is slice tomatoes and avo type things, and lay it all out.

I think anyone can get a Costco card nowadays
