Good side dishes for Rotisserie Pork for outside eating

I have a couple coming for for food this weekend. They are rather fussy eaters, so my plan was to do a Sunday Roast, as I know that's an easy win that they like (as long as it's pork, chicken, turkey or well done beef).

But it's going to be 30 degrees! So I neither fancy cooking nor eating a full roast dinner.

We have a rotisserie on the BBQ, so rotisserie pork loin cooked outdoors seems like a good hot weather equivalent of a roast. But what side dishes would be nice to go with it? I'd like something special, but it can't be different or massively out there as they are both pretty fussy.

We'll be eating outside in the garden.

The rotisserie takes up most of the BBQ, but I did think maybe we could fit some corn on the cob on?

What else would you serve with it? New potatoes? Or some other kind of potato dish? Another couple of vegetable sides?

Or would you just do salad, bread, potato salad etc?

Ooh yum!

You could do a cold green bean salad: cook the green beans to still-firm but done, blanch in ice water so they dont continue to cook. Dress in a lemon/olive oil/herb dressing.

Quick sweet, onion pickle.

Id lob a load of potatoes on the the bbq too and get roasty potatoes.

Corn on the cob is always a good idea.

Remmeber seasoning is your friend: greek yogurt dressed with lime zest, olivie oil, salt and pepper and some chilli flakes is 10 X more fancy.

You could do a apple slaw which would be really tasty with pork, and you can prep in advance.

Big bread selection too.

Hope this helps!

I love a hot pork sandwich with stuffing & applesauce, and coleslaw on the side. Not particularly special but very tasty

Thank you!

How does this sound?

  • Rotisserie Pork
  • Herby roast baby new potatoes
  • Apple slaw
  • Tomato and cucumber salad
  • Green salad
  • Selection of bread/baps.

Thinking strawberries and cream or Eton mess for pud.

Absolutely perfect, what time do you want me?!

Have a lovely time

perhaps I'm a vegetable dodger, but if I was your guest 3 vegetable/salady sides would be overkill, though they do sound lovely.

Sounds great! I love a nice (varied) selection of veg. Steamed broccoli and stramed carrots? Naahh. Tenderstem broccoli panfried with chilli and garlic, and slow roasted carrots with fennel and star anise syrup, with roatisserie chicken? Yes please.
