I know this sounds mad…

I’m doing a vaguely Asian salad for dinner tonight (lettuce, carrot ribbons, cold chicken, peanut dressing).

I’d like to add some carbs, and I’ve had puffed rice ball things in restaurant salads like this.

Would I be totally mad to add rice crispies?

Im sure I am (and I’m usualaly a good cook, promise). If so, any other ideas - I’ve got a well stocked kitchen but the heat and a 4 month old have destroyed my brain.

Yes it sounds bad Grin

but maybe make a little mouse portion of the whole ensemble with a few Krispies to see if it works? No need to destroy the entire dish!

Otherwise, I make something similar and serve with room temperature/ cooling rice with it - we all love it!!

I have no opinion on the inclusion of breakfast cereals, but the salad sounds lovely ( sort of simplified nasi goreng). I think we’ll have it tomorrow! Thanks

Cold (cooked) rice noodles would be nice.
Maybe egg noodles?

AllTheWatersTurnedToClouds · 04/09/2023 15:59

I think some noodles might be a better idea 😁

NOODLES!

Yes that is far more sensible, thank you.

Or quinoa would be really nice with that.

And sprinkle on peanuts for crunch

Diospyros · 04/09/2023 16:43

A sprinkling of crispy fried noodles would be great.

I’ve had rice crispies when a friend was trying to make an approximation of the Indian snack Bhel puri. They didn’t really work as too sweet

Bombay mix?
