Toasting marshmallows question

Are there any Chemistry teachers out there? My son thinks it is OK to toast marshmallows over burning methylated spirits. I wonder if toxic fumes are a problem. Please settle this for us!

I see this is a bit old but no replies, I researched this a bit and no it doesn't create toxins when burned. It should be safe.

I wouldn't fancy it myself, even if it was deemed safe. When I was younger I'd toast them over a tealight!
