Just that really. We are a sick house this weekend from the nursery bugs, not much appetite. Would love a good sick soup for dinner and looking for some inspiration.

chicken soup for me, brings me back to life

  1. put chicken pieces in the pot, any cuts with bones are better and cover it with water or chicken stock
  2. boil it high and skim off the frothy fat
  3. put in some fresh dill, thyme and salt and peppercorns
  4. simmer for 20 minutes
  5. add chopped carrot, spring onions, garlic cloves, cabbage and potato if you want it thicker
  6. simmer for 60 minutes , until you see it shimmering golden
  7. then sieve out the liquid
  8. you can add a whole chilli in halfway through cooking if you want it spicier, like a bullet chilli

Delias lentil bacon and cabbage one is so comforting and freezes well.

But when feeling too rough to cook just add a mass of pepper and cheese to a tin of Heinz tomato.

If I'm not well enough to make homemade, I have tinned cream of tomato soup with a cheese sandwich, toasted bread buttered, filled with grated cheese not melted, for dipping

Laksa with noodles made with proper chicken bone broth. I hate stock but I know it's good for me so disguise it in spicy dishes.
