Hoping to start making us bento lunch style boxes when we go back to work in September. Can anyone recommend any nice snacky bits for packed lunches for adults?

so far I’ve got:
vegetable spring rolls
mini chicken skewers
little pot of couscous
cucumber/carrot sticks with dip
homemade sausage rolls
fruit pots

Explain bento box. My go to packed lunch if not leftovers is :
Bed of leaves
Grains ( Quinoa, cous cous or wild rice) or lentils
Roasted vegetables ( often beetroot, courgette, peppers +/- onions)
Feta and/ or avocado
Seeds

Or left overs.
In the winter soup.

Breadsticks
Fruit
Rice cakes- sweet or savoury

Also consider using many small plastic pots instead of a fancy bento box. Easier to clean and can have lots of spares.

I do an adult sized yumbox to pick at when I'm at my desk almost like a fruit platter as I'm a terrible grazer.
I have a boiled egg, sliced apple, cucumber, peeled mandarin, berries, other fruit / veg, hummous and some crackers. Also have my lunch at lunchtime but I find the yumbox keeps me from picking at the chocolate and biscuits in our staff room / canteen

I make a fritata that keeps well in the fridge for a couple of days.

Chilli salmon, sushi rice (with seasoning/vinegar - it makes a huge difference), cucumber, cherry tomato, boiled egg, sesame.

Meatballs/mini burgers, barbecue sauce, pickles, tomato, lettuce, carrot ribbons with sesame seeds, oil and rice vinegar.

Buckwheat noodles, barbecue sauce with tamari and sesame oil, spring onion, carrot and chicken yakitori.

Rolled egg omelette, chives, spring onion.

Oh these all sound amazing! Bento boxes are just a lunch box with layers/compartments to have lots of little snacks rather than a big lunch. I can’t work out how to reply to the comment above 🙈

peanut butter mixed with a bit of honey and salt (and maybe a bit of water or oil to loosen up) with green apple slices
rice cakes with slices of avocado dressed in lemon
Japanese rice balls (onigiri)
fishcakes

When I'm reducing carbs I have

Cubed cheese
Cucumber
Olives
Boiled egg
Avocado
A low ish carb seed cracker
Pickles

Love them.

Itsu gyozas from the frozen isle

Sushi is surprisingly easy to make and you can use tinned fish/avos/cucumber if you don’t want to take raw fish out and about

I have been using Lunchbots boxes for ages and I love them! The one I prefer has 5 sections and, depending on leftovers/mood/etc, I pack:

  • boiled eggs, halved
  • sandwiches
  • pasta salads
  • cucumbers/carrots/pepper sticks
  • olives
  • cubed cheese (cheddar, parmesan,..)
  • breadsticks/small crackers/other dry nibbles
  • nuts
  • berries/grapes/apple slices

I think a loose theme can help.

Charcuterie - meats, cheese, crackers, veg, fruit, pickles, piccalilli/chutney

Mezze - stuffed vine leaves, meatballs, falafel, dips/hummus, bruschetta, olives, dips, flatbread or pitta

ploughmans - scotch egg, pork pie, cheese, ham, good crusty bread, pickle, new potatoes or potato salad, salad veggies

Tapas - frittata, ham wrapped melon, stuffed peppers

Indian - onion bhaji, samosas, tandoori or tikka chicken, naan or roti, lime pickle, onion and tomato salad
