Can you freeze cream cheese frosting?

Just finished a carrot cake for my pregnant friend who was coming round for afternoon tea and she's just called to say she's gone into labour.

Tempted to scoff the lot myself but thought I'd stick it in the freezer and then take it when we go to visit the new arrival. Can I freeze it as it is or shall I scrape off the topping which is cream cheese mixed with icing sugar and vanilla extract?

I'm sure you can because of high fat content? Spesh if not going to be in there for long. Not an expert cake-freezer tho.......

did you freeze it in the end?

let me know - I would be afraid it would cause fatal separation... but I have been wrong before

'fraid I decided the only sensible course of action was to eat it myself and make her a fresh one...
