A picnic one

I have been gifted a lovely luxury picnic basket with glasses and cutlery and it’s just WONDERFUL

only problem is, once you allow for a bottle of bubbles- the fucker only holds about a normal carrier bag size of food. Not a massive bag for a life, a small 10p carrier bag.

what would you prioritise for a dinner picnic with such short space? Using it this evening

great sandwiches
picky bits
something sweet?
but what?

2 adults and a toddler who eats what we do

Picky bits however you could take a small separate cold bag as well

Or this for sandwiches

Take some sliced roast beef or chicken, a Greek salad and some cheese. If you've got space, some prepared fruit eg fresh chopped pineapple. Would that all fit in your basket?

Quite often we take a really oozy Brie, maybe another cheese, packets of charcuterie, olives, a small tub of butter and pick up a fresh baguette on the way to wherever we’re going. The baguette needn’t go in the basket or cool box, just carried separately. We also like a punnet of grapes and a packet of figs.

Another vote for a good cheese board, either fresh baguette or crackers, chutney, grapes, celery sticks, cocktail gherkins and pickled onions.

Yes, Fortnum and Mason is surely everyone's "go-to" for cool bags

I actually have the tote…I just don’t want to be a bag lady with a million things. We want to sling the baby and travel light

ok I have a baguette cut down to size, will fit in diagonally. Butter in Tupperware. Olives in Tupperware. Cheese. Going to marinate some chicken and make a pasta salad for DH and baby

i didn’t buy anything sweet but I have pink wine

A long as you don't actually 'sling' the baby that's the main thing.
