Eating meat after 10 years?

I’m decided for health reason to eat meat again, after 10 years of being vegetarian, I’m worried it’s dangerous to go straight back to meat. Should I wean it back in?

Mussels that are rope grown are not bad for the environment and there is a lot of evidence to suggest they don’t feel pain. Perhaps try them with spaghetti or a Thai sauce and rice. They are easy to prepare and high in B12 etc.

I've been veggie and gone back to meat no probs (twice). Probably makes sense to take it slow-ish, but I wouldn't worry too much.

I've known a lot of people to start eating meat again and they all look so much healthier then when they were vegetarian. I can't remember them saying it made them unwell.
Maybe introduce it slowly though for digestive reasons.

I'm currently pescatarian and firmly believe that for most people it's possible to have a nutritious diet that doesn't include meat.

I do know someone else though who felt weak after switching to a vegetarian diet: maybe it's harder for some people.

I don't really believe that your body loses the ability to deal with meat: as an off-and-on veggie I've never had issues switching back to meat. Maybe don't launch into huge portions of fois gras and steak tartare on day 1 though...

Good luck!

After 15 years, I started with a tuna sandwich as it was the one thing I longed for.
My mum still laughs at when I tried my first piece of chicken - it's so chewy, like chewing gum!
I was veggie though before Quorn etc was a thing, do veggie dinners were pretty much vegan dinners.

The last thing that I tried, and it took years, was lamb.

Start with fish first maybe? Not sure what your health reasons are (unless I've missed a post). Is meat the only way to go?

I went back to meat after 12 years pescatarian and an additional ten years of no red meat. I became dairy intolerant and decided I needed to eat meat again as my diet was becoming too restrictive (this is years before vegan is became mainstream). I got quite drunk one night and asked a friend to take me for a steak at Gaucho. I had a three day stomach ache but no issues after that.
