Vegan BBQ ideas

Can anyone recommend something super simple I can do for a vegan guest at our BBQ? She's one of 12 guests, and I'll make sure all/most of the sides are vegan friendly, but I want to be able to serve at least one 'main' item.

I don't mind buying something (if anyone has recommendations from either Ocado or Tesco), and I was going to go for vegan burgers, but all the ones I looked at said to oven cook, and I was worried they would fall apart on the BBQ.

I don't mind making something, but given I'll have a LOT of cooking to do, it would need to be really simple.

I don't want her to feel left out, but I also don't want to work myself into the ground!

Satay tofu kebabs on skewers or corn on the cob 'ribs'.

The 'beyond' burgers are amazing and bbq well 😋

This Isn’t Sausages

Beyond Burgers

Both of these are vegan and BBQ a treat.

Also - vegetable skewers: peppers (different colours), mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, red onion - chef’s kiss.

Just cook hers in the oven unless you have a separate bbq. She will not want remnants or juice from all the other guests meat on her vegan burger or kebab Smile

Cauliflower slices marinated in curry powder mixed with coconut oil. Then bbq . Absurdly gorgeous and I'm not even remotely vegan. Kebabs with peppers, onions, mushrooms, baby tons and courgette always go down well. Grilled corn with a vegan spread? Also oddly grilled watermelon is DELICIOUS! Lots of sugar and fresh mint and its just to die for.

Agree you'll need to cook hers entirely separately anyway, so oven cooking shouldn't be a problem. I'm vegetarian and won't eat food cooked on the same grill, I'd much prefer oven or pan fried.

LancreWowhawk · 31/07/2023 20:33

Yeah, it would be better for her and easier for me just to do some burgers in the oven, wouldn't it?

Yes I'm always happy to have my stuff cooked in the oven, beyond meat stuff is all super tasty :)

Hoppinggreen · 31/07/2023 20:35

We do Cauliflower steaks, asparagus and garlic mushrooms, we put it in a foil tray to keep it away from any meat

Swoonworthy · 31/07/2023 20:39

We always bbq the vegan stuff first, then vegetarian, then meat. I think using the oven is fine to make it easier, I’d be happy with that.

Bake large field mushrooms with some diced onion and serve in a burger bun, with an individual pot or two of vegan dressing.

Tempura mixed vegetables, oven baked.

I'd be really disappointed with that. It's just a mushroom sandwich. And sometimes the mushrooms are slippery and slide out of the bun.
