Low carbing

I really want to start low carbing. I am pre diabetic and and feeling very unwell generally. The trouble is breakfast. I don’t like eggs much . I really need some help and advice generally with what to eat . I did it years ago and lost two stones but this time I am really struggling. I don’t eat much meat and things like Chickpeas have a lot of carbs . I really need to do something. Just had an omelette and found it revolting.

Another family member is low carbing and it's has a dramatic effect. Seems to involve lots of cabbage and celeriac.

How about full fat greek yoghurt with a compote made of berries for breakfast? (buy a bag of frozen berries and cook it down in a saucepan).

Just have a Babybel and a few nuts

have you tried tofu? can be added to smoothie or scrambled for breakfast, also cubed, maybe marinaded and added to stirfries. Low carb plant based alternative

When I did a keto diet, I used 'carb manager' on my phone. They had an option for low carb too and it collated all the carbs/fibre/fat for the day and really helped me to learn how many carbs were in certain things.
I like asparagus and spinach in some butter with ham or full fat yoghurt/berries and nuts. Avocado and bacon.

I don't like yoghurt or eggs and have the finncrisp rye crackers for breakfast with roquefort or with cream cheese and smoked salmon. Or sometimes I have apple with peanut or almond butter. This seems to keep me full most days until lunch, if not I have a handful of nuts.

I make a "porridge" with milled chia seeds powder, unsweetened almond milk & 1tsp of cocoa powder for flavour. It's a bit gelatinous but I heat it up in the microwave & it bearable.

In suggest don't think of breakfast as a special meal, just treat it as a meal & eat what you would for lunch or dinner.

Definitely agree with full far Greek yogurt (not 'Greek style') e.g Fage, with Berries and nuts. Hugh protein and low carbon, exactly what you need.

For a v quick breakfast I eat cheese, nuts and olives/Berries.

Low carb doesnt mean no carbs at all.

My carbs are very low (always under 50g a day) but I do have porridge for breakfast (for the fibre)

You're right that beans and lentils are quite high in carbs comparatively and another thing to watch is milk if you are being very strict.

When I dont have porridge I do have any old thing, tarka dhal, tofu as someone suggested, curry, whatever I fancy. Like someone said breakfast is just the first meal of the day it doesnt need to be a specific thing

I reaallllly enjoy for breakfast a handful of walnuts / Brazil nuts or almonds and a slice or two of nice cheese. Eat the nuts and cheese in the same mouthful - a taste sensation. It really hits the spot and keeps me full. Plenty of fat and protein but low in carb. You could add an apple too or some strawberries.
