Took my already cooked bolognaise sauce out of the freezer & left it on the counter- not in direct sun. Ended up out longer than expected & came back to it about 5 hours later. It had defrosted but was still cold to touch, def not yet room temperature. I put it back in the fridge. Am I good to serve it tonight if I cook it well & make sure it’s super hot?

No, it'll be fine!

In food hygiene there's a principle called critical control point. Basically the critical control point for your Bolognese is to boil the crap out of it for a few minutes to ensure no bacteria survives.

It'll be fine. You've just described my usual approach to defrosting things. It's not killed me (or even made me sick) yet.

It will be perfect!

It will be fine. Just make sure you heat it up well.

Be ok to eat.

Thesearmsofmine · 23/07/2023 18:23

That’s how I always defrost things!

maximist · 23/07/2023 18:25

Isn't that how you're supposed to defrost things? It's what I always do, and I've made it to 53...

dementedpixie · 23/07/2023 18:27

We defrost everything on the worktop. Just cook it until its piping hot

JamNittyGritty · 23/07/2023 18:30

Thank you! Was really looking forward to eating it!
