Cheese porridge

Have you ever put cheese in your porridge?

I thought I would try it today, I sometimes have it plain or add a small amount of peanut butter or nutella to it but I much prefer savory flavours and will do anything to add cheese into things!

Then googling, it turns out that cheese porridge is a 'thing' but Ive never heard of it, thought it was my own little invention!

I added a bit of garlic salt as well

Ugh no! Just salt is fine.

It sounds wrong, but I'll try anything once. Usually I like a sprinkle of brown sugar.

Noooooooooo

Is that not like a soggy cheese sandwich?

porridge was originally a savoury thing though I think, in ye old (Anglo Saxon) times. It was probably the only thing mind you.

I have had cheese savoury flap jack type things thing and they were nice. They weren’t soggy though, I feel that’s key.

Cheese in all forms is disgusting 🤮 but I always have porridge with butter (and sugar)

You can treat oats like risotto rice.

One of the best meals I've ever had was a savoury mushroom porridge thing (guy had won the Scottish porridge championship with it)

They do it with coarse cornmeal porridge in the states, cheese grits.

I make porridge with stock instead of milk, then top it with a poached egg, jalapenos, and fresh coriander leaves. It's lovely! Leave the egg yoke runny and it stirs in to give a wonderful creamy texture.

I've had marmite porridge with parmesan and black pepper on top. It's nice. It's like chinese rice porridge, just different flavourings. Think a soft boiled poached egg would be lovely with it
