Ideas for when it's too hot to cook?

Tomorrow is chopped salad, roast chicken and French bread.

Really struggling with quick and healthy meal ideas for when the kitchen feels too hot to cook?

I'm going to make chopped salad with my new doodah.

I chop all the veggies on the smallest blade. I put them in separate containers and mix and match over a few days.

I have carrots, peppers, red onion, spring onion, celery, eggs, tomatoes. I mix it with a protein, lemon and everything bagel seasoning.

I will sometimes put my airfryer outside to cook stuff without heating the house at all. Works well.

That sounds good!

Also, make wraps with tortilla wraps.

Couscous is a good one for making without using too much heat. Or, if I am organised, I’ll boil potatoes/pasta in the morning before it gets too hot, then have that cold in a salad that evening.

We often use the slow cooker as find it doesn't heat the kitchen up like the oven does

I second using the air fryer, halogen oven, slow cooker etc all outside to keep the heat out the house. Otherwise if you use the microwave inside it doesn't generate too much heat.

Are you sure you want a hot meal? Apart from a cooler day when DH put some jacket potatoes in the microwave we haven't had a hot meal since late May. We probably won't until at least the end of August.

It's partly down to my lack of interest in cooking, and DH is the same, but salad with bread or a few crackers is fine. Occasionally I buy falafels or a quiche to have a change.

I make wraps with falafal, feta, chilli, yoghurt, salad a lot

Chicken in airfryer with spices

I have salad most lunchtimes but I still do hot food in the evening. It hasn't really felt very warm this summer to me

I'm ok with salad twice a day. The rest of the family would prefer a proper meal. They will get involved, DS eats loads so it's only fair.

We will have a sort of Katsu chicken on Monday. We cook rice using the absorption method, chicken in the air fryer, curry sauce.

Wraps is a good idea. Maybe we could do roasted veggies on the air fryer or made in advance.

When it's cooler, I will make baked potatoes in the micro and air fryer to be heated up. I can put it on the conservatory.

I'm off to Google salad dressings.
