My go to is beans on toast.

Any ideas on how to jazz it up?

Mixed beans? Or home made baked beans? I have no idea haha just trying to get some excitement out of food again.

How long do you have?

Worcestershire sauce sauce, smoked paprika, tiny bit of dark chocolate or coffee.

Baked bean tarts?
Get ready roll pastry and cut into squares.
Score a smaller square around a centimetre in from the edge and add beans within that square.
Sprinkle cheese on top

Brush the pastry with egg or milk.

Cook in the oven.

Fry peppers and red onion(Or regular if you prefer) with some garlic, chili flakes/powder/fresh chill, smoked paprika and pepper. (Sometimes I add cumin too) Add a large tin of beans and some chopped tomatoes. Season to taste. Heat through. Put in a baking dish and put grated cheese over the top. Stick in oven or under grill until the cheese has melted and is bubbling then serve and eat with toast/garlic bread or fresh crusty bread.

Half to one teaspoon of chipotle paste (gran luchito). Smokey and spicy upgrade immediately!

(Also tastes great stirred into spaghetti bolognese, chilli con carne, and fajitas, but maybe not for kids!).

I'd add bacon, an egg, and cheese! And mushrooms.
Chopped red pepper is a good shout too.

Cumin is another quick add.

Well that would certainly be a humdinger

No I meant you can have bean and cheese, beans and marmite, beans and curry powder, beans and mustard, but you can mix up what you like really

Pollywoddles · 07/07/2023 13:18

Cheddar cheese and brown sauce, in the saucepan with the beans!

I mainlined that while pregnant and now my toddler loves it too (minus the brown sauce, I’m not sure she’s ready for that).

Baked bean curry. Quick, easy, make a big batch and goes on rice, jackets, chips or on toast. Keeps well in the fridge and can freeze.
Fry onion, peppers , curry powder and add beans and anything else you want to use up.
Also works with chilli powder and add a tin of kidney or mixed beans as well and some sweetcorn if you have some.

TeaandHobnobs · 07/07/2023 13:26

Stir in some Boursin

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 07/07/2023 13:30

Cowboy beans, fry off bacon, add beans and bbq sauce, stir.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 07/07/2023 20:26

Crumble in some Stilton
Add a dollop of Branson pickle
Red onion, garlic and oregano.
Or upgrade your toast to pasta and enjoy the student staple of pasta, beans and cheese.

CordylineHair · 07/07/2023 20:28

A spoon of curry paste into the beans (plus chopped cherry tomatoes just before taking off the heat so they're not cooked), served on Naan Bread and optional chopped coriander and crushed salted cashews.

1AnotherOne · 07/07/2023 20:31

You just need to put a chunk of butter in a pan then add the beans, cook on low for a minimum 10 minutes. Best beans every time.

Spudlover · 07/07/2023 20:32

I do breakfast beans, with pancetta and mushrooms. Really good on sourdough with a poached egg on top.

Also mixed beans with herb passata and mozzarella on top.

declutteringmymind · 07/07/2023 20:32

Spread branston on your toast before you put the beans on.

Or crumble feta cheese on top of beans on toast.

Saisong · 07/07/2023 20:33

Teaspoon of curry powder and melt in some cheddar is my go to

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/07/2023 20:37

Make cheese on toast under the grill, spoon some beans on top to serve. Delicious.

AdaColeman · 07/07/2023 20:42

Make cheese on toast, pile the beans on top.

Top beans on toast with a fried egg.

Chop some ham or salami up and add to the beans as they heat up.

Chop up left over cooked sausages and add to the beans as they heat up.

Add fried onions or peppers or mushrooms to the beans.

Brefugee · 07/07/2023 20:44

put marmite on the toast, put Henderson's relish in the beans and maybe a shake or two of hot sauce
finely grated cheese on top of the beans (cheddar is good) top with fried egg.
