Costco question

Madcatlady58 · 04/07/2023 12:49

We're having a party soon and have ordered sandwich platters from Costco.
However, we are having to pick them up the day before (last collection time is 1pm which is too tight for us on the day). They will be refrigerated until we're ready to serve them.
I'm now panicking about giving our guests food poisoning. DH furious and now saying it'll be fine but he'll cancel and s*d the money if I'm going to worry about it for the next 2 weeks.
Deep down I know I'm being silly - arent I??Anyone have any experience which could reassure me?

Well doesn't it depend on the use-by dates of the sandwiches? If the date is the same day as collection, I wouldn't buy them, as even if they don't give you food poisoning, they won't be at their best the next day.

I think they'll be fine. They come all sealed up in a plastic container with a lid. Keep them cold and I don't see any reason why they won't stay fresh.

You'd keep all the ingredients separately for more than 1 day. Just because they are in sandwich form it won't make them go off. It's keeping them in the fridge that's important.

We've pre-ordered them to collect at 4pm so I imagine they'll be made on the day. If they have a date we won't see it until its too late ☹️

Yes you are being silly. They'll be fine, stop finding something else to worry about

Madcatlady58 · 04/07/2023 13:01

Thanks, this is what I keep telling myself!

They will be absolutely fine

They’ll be absolutely fine.

They will be fine. I imagine a lot of pre made sandwiches are a day old by the time you but them from the shops.

I've done it plenty of times, even kept them in my car once in the middle of winter as fridge was full.

My friend works at costco and they are made fresh, on the day just a few hours ahead of pick up. They'll be totally fine the next day.

They’ll be fine. I used to have a holiday job in a hotel. They routinely made d sandwiches the day before and put them in the fridge overnight.
