2 tiers so I'd say between £80-£100

So close it costed £190 was originally £170 but each tier was a different flavour red velvet and chocolate fudge but it costed an extra £10 each for them flavourings🤔

Do you think you were overcharged? What sizes were the tiers?

So when I shown the woman the cake and she said £170 I was blown away like I didn't expect it to cost that much but I paid anyway the bottom tier was 6inch and the top tier was 4inch I guess the time she took decorating it but an extra £10 for flavours is definitely ridiculous! Do you think I was over charged

I don’t think you were overcharged but I do think it’s a ridiculous amount to pay for a first birthday cake.

Yeah well it's a good job you wasn't paying for it then might of been pricey but my son won't have a 1st birthday ever again so it was special also it got shared out at his party and I definitely wouldn't pay that again

You say that as though other people do have multiple 1st birthdays.

Cake looks nice. I'd have expected to pay approx £130.

I was going to say it probably cost the GDP of a small country....

Cakes are always very expensive like this. SIL gets something like this for nephews and I think it's crazy. But if the cake is gorgeous and made you and him happy and you can afford it, then fair enough.

The extra money is, I suspect, for the additional time of making different flavours. Instead of making up one batter, she'd have had to do two.

No I think it sounds about right for that size (I’m a cake maker). I don’t personally charge extra for different flavours, but both red velvet and chocolate are more expensive and time consuming so it makes sense. I personally just average the price out so all flavours cost the same, but it’s just a different way of doing it.

Don’t worry about people saying it’s ridiculous to spend that much on a cake. People spend money on different things and have different priorities. I’m sure your son loved it!
