Buttercream out the fridge

Baked a cake today for a birthday on Monday. Would I be safe to do the buttercream today given it will be stored out of the fridge , or should I wait until tomorrow, so it's not out so long? It would be stored in a cake carrier container.

It'll be fine. Lots of people will tell it won't be, but honestly if you keep the cake somewhere cool it'll be fine.

Thanks! That's what I'm leaning towards. As it's basically just butter and sugar. I've just been reading the butter thread and seems loads of people never put their butter in the fridge anyway.

Airtight container it will be fine.

Yep. Sugar is a preservative (and I never refrigerate butter anyway).

I always do as I use real butter

I use double cream in my buttercream for cupcakes so they need to be fridge stored, but butter & icing sugar doesn't need to be refrigerated

I'd never store buttercream in the fridge.
It will be fine.
