just interested to know, which yoghurts to avoid because of high amounts of sugar in them; eg petit filous??

As far as I know, all the prepared yoghurts with fruit in them have lots of sugar. The ideal way to avoid this is to make your own fruit puree and mix it with plain yoghurt.

However, I'm lazy, and like premixed yoghurts, so I just mix them with plain yoghurt. That way, I can reduce the added sugar by 50%, and also change the fat content, making nonfat yoghurts tastier.

same here!! at the moment ds has a danone follow on milk yoghurt mixed with the same volume of natural live yoghurt. even with fruit added he's not to keen on the natural yoghurt on its own!!

dd loved the whole milk greek style natural yoghurt with or without fruit until I missed giving it to her for two weeks and now she turns her nose up at it (it is quite a strong taste, and not sweet) Angry oh well she's happy with just the fruit anyway (apparently she's the only one at nursery that gets excited when they have fruit for snack Smile

just to go off the subject can I give normal yoghurt to a 7 month old or do I have to keep sing the baby yoghurts

moondog · 12/12/2004 21:28

I think the secret is to give them nothing but plain(which imo is delicious, I like Yeo Valley and Onken). My dd dosn't know that there is any other sort!

albosmum, I don't think the baby yoghurts are ever actually necessary. I know some are made with follow-on milk, but I don't see why you'd need that. They certainly always tend to have a lot of sugar in them.

i only ever get greek yogurt and mix stuff in it. dd doesn't know any better!
