Foolproof biscuit recipe needed.

I want to make biscuits that I can stamp a message on.
I once made passable shortbread but lost the recipe, I’ve had several disasters attempting cookies, I am pretty good at cakes so not a novice baker but biscuits seem to be beyond me for some reason.
I would really love to see some of your ‘never fail’ biscuit recipes please.
TIA

This is a great recipe - read the tips on rolling the dough (linked in recipe)
Good luck!

Nigella has one in 'how to eat' for cutting out biscuits.

One cup of peanut butter (any)
one same size cup of granulated sugar
one egg.

mix all together. Put teaspoon sized balls of the mixture on to a baking tray (can be greased/non slip/use a liner).

bake in preheated oven gas mark 4 until golden and firm on top. Around 10- 15 mins.

never fails, always a winner, never tried stamping them- but you can try!

Thank you for the suggestions. I will check out my ingredients stock in the morning and have a couple of trial attempts. I’m sure teens and their friends will happily be taste testers!
