Never thought I'd have this problem but there you go...!

Got loads of leftover chocolate cake currently sat in the freezer, does anyone have any suggestions or ideas in how to use it up? Any nice pudding recipes? Ta!

Just told my DH there was "left over chocolate cake" and he nearly had an aneurysm

purplecorkheart · 22/06/2023 21:40

Some kind of trifle?

Riverlee · 22/06/2023 21:40

In every restaurant in the UK at the moment (it seems), a standard desert is chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream, so cut it into large cubes, heat gently in microwave, and then add a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Make a chocolate trifle, and use instead of trifle sponges.

Some sort of deconstructed Black Forest gateau, Eton Mess style in a dish with cherries, cherry jam, chocolate ganache/frosting and cream?

Fivemoreminutes1 · 23/06/2023 09:16

My dc love making cake pops with leftover sponge https://maisoncupcake.com/reeces-peanut-butter-cake-pops/

Erm, WHAT?

<faints>

ditalini · 23/06/2023 09:22

Black forest trifle. I'm sure there'll be a recipe somewhere but I'd imagine it would involve cherry jam spread on the pieces of chocolate cake, some kir & probably a tin of cherries in juice to add more moisture, loads of sweetened whipped cream and dark chocolate shavings.

And then I'd eat the bowlful.

TheSandgroper · 23/06/2023 13:23

You will have to tell us how you managed to have left over chocolate cake.

Defrost and slice or cube and allow to dry out.

Sliced - tiramisu

  • base for cheesecake, chiffon tart etc (sorry about the random bullet point)
Cubed - in a tall glass, layer with strawberries or raspberries, alcohol, stiff custard. Finish drizzled with syrup to match.

Crumble and serve over icecream.

I would be heating it up and having it with custard
In fact if you send it to me I'll make sure it's disposed of

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 23/06/2023 19:19

Smoosh it up with some chocolate icing and make it into cake pops then coat them in chocolate.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 23/06/2023 19:20

I’d be feeding it to the birds. Cake, bleugh.

NeverendingCircus · 23/06/2023 19:23

What is this strange phenomenon?

My mum used to blitz it in the blender with a tablespoon of brandy and/or OJ then roll into balls, dip in melted chocolate and roll in cocoa powder: brandy truffles.

whatisforteamum · 23/06/2023 19:25

Ice cream sundaes.
Cube cake and alternate with ice cream, choc sauce ,cherry pie filling in a taĺl glass or sundae dish.Top with whipped cream more sauce.
