Has anyone tried airfrying peas?

Wondering if they’d make a good snacking alternative to crisps!
I can imagine they’d be delicious covered in spices, but wondering what the texture would be like. Anyone tried it?

Chickpeas are really nice as a crispy snack once they’ve been baked. I can’t imagine garden peas though….wouldn’t they be too wet?

I think you can do similar with chickpeas though.

Right, I’ll be the Guinea pig for the air fried peas. I imagine defrosting and drying on paper towels would be the first step…

There is an Indian snack made by deep frying peas but you start with dried peas rather than frozen. You might be able to replicate that in an air fryer.

Back to report my findings… there is potential here. Don’t think I got the timing/temp quite right but with a bit of tinkering they’ll make a bloody good snack!

I flavoured them with garlic granules, onion powder, pepper and paprika. Probably too much paprika.
Would be delicious salted but trying to watch my salt intake.

Anyway, thumbs up from me 👍

Some cumin on chickpeas before you bake them is really good.

Update… just tried a few peas. They seem to have lost their crunch pretty quickly.
Definitely more chewy than crunchy.
Oh well, I’ll still eat them.
