Can I cook chicken that I bought fresh and then froze from frozen or do I have to defrost it?

Chicken pieces? A whole chicken?
I would always defrost first tbh

Breasts - chopped

How are you hoping to cook it?

Microwave - probably
Oven - yes but prob a bit lower than usual for longer
Grill - doubtful
Stir fry / pan fry - no chance, outside would burn before inside cooked

I'd always defrost it too. In an emergency, I put the packet in a bowl of water. It defrosts pretty quickly.

I put frozen chicken thighs in a roaster with water, seasoning, carrots, onion, mushrooms and cook for about 90mins on 425f. Take lid off for last 20 mins to brown. Remove chicken and veg, strain liquid and make gravy. Serve with mash etc.

I'll leave it til tomorrow. Thanks everyone! Not worth the risk.

You can defrost in the microwave assuming you have a half modern microwave.

Yep definitely defrost- a defrosting tray is a good shout if ever you are in a pinch (me daily when I have forgotten to get the meat out for dinner 🙈).

From frozen in an instant pot is absolutely fine. Any other cooking method, I'd defrost first.

I always poach or oven cook from frozen. No problems at all. One friend did freak out on me the other day when he saw me do it but it's fine

What do you do with that?
