Help with gammon in the slow cooker

I have no experience of this....although have cooked chicken, lamb etc

Do you cook it in liquid? Will it be too salty if I put it in without liquid?

Any nice recipes for midweek gammon in the slow cooker. Thanks.

Yes, you need liquid. I’ve heard of people cooking it in a can of Coke. Personally, I whack mine in the air fryer.

You can cook without liquid but many will use something.

Water / stock / apple juice / coke / ginger beer / pineapple juice all work.

I always cook gammon in the slow cooker. I just put it in the slow cooker and fill the pot with a either bottle of fizzy drink like coke/Dr Pepper or a carton of apple juice and then leave it on overnight on low or 4 hours on high. So easy to do and you don't need to check on it at all.

GailTheSnail - thanks that's my dinner sorted

I use water with a bayleaf and some peppercorns, I've never fancied using a sweet liquid but I imagine the acid makes it more tender more quickly.

Perfect thanks. (I'm going to try the last one....although will be at work so it will only get turned once.)

I’ll be the one who’s always different! I never add liquid, as there’s always a lot of liquid comes out during cooking, I just add some brown sugar, and when the gammon’s cooked and pulled, I pour so,e of the cooking liquid over it
