Toasted Couscous

I bought a bag of toasted couscous in Holland and Barrett yesterday as we regularly eat normal couscous and thought this sounded nice for a change.

I used it as per instructions on packet (put into boiling water and cover for 10 minutes). After that time it had swelled slightly but was still hard and wasn't pleasant to eat.

Has anyone else used this product, and can you give me any advice on ways to use it please?

Did you just leave it covered ?
It needs to be simmered on the hob, & it's meant to be al dente.

I use Osem, here's their info :-

Preparation and UsageDirections:
Add 1 1/4 cups of boiling water to 1 cup of Osem Israeli (Pearl) Couscous.
Cover pot and simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add salt to taste.

Serving Suggestion
Sauté one small chopped onion in olive oil until golden brown. Add 1 cup of Osem Israeli (Pearl) Couscous and stir well. Add salt, pepper, chopped parsley, and other spices according to taste. Add 1 1/4 cups of boiling water or broth. Cover pot and simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Thank you so much for replying Georgy, your way and the recipe sounds much better and I will try it.

(The instructions on my packet said to add the couscous to boiling water, cover with foil and leave for 10 minutes).
