Vegan flatbread recipe please

I just bought yoghurt, self raising flour, olive oil and baking powder to make a recipe I found online, only to find when I came to make it that there were no measurements.

Can anyone share a recipe for vegan flatbreads which use those ingredients please?

These are good even without the garlic and herb butter. And the recipe calls for the ingredients you want to use. The flavour variations suggested are delicious - worth a try.

Yoghurt isn't vegan. I would just mix flour and water to make a dough then roll out and cook like a chapati.

This is the one I was originally using, I can’t see the amounts anywhere - am I being spectacularly thick?

Sorry I should have specified dairy free / vegan yoghurt.

I’ve never made chapatis though, is is just plain flour and enough water to make a dough?

That’s the print off version with the measurements

There's an arrow with 'Jump to recipe' under the first picture. Just press that.

300g of flour, preferably strong bread flour but go with what you've got.
5g or as teaspoon of dried yeast, either quick or normal but follow the instructions.
85ml or g of tepid or luke warm water, if you're using dried yeast let the yeast ferment in the water till foaming.
5g or a teaspoon of salt.
If using bread flour add 5g of baking soda, if self raising don't (self raising is plane flour with baking powder added)
85ml of yoghurt or light coconut milk.
Mix and knead.
Prove till 2x size.
Knock back, cut and stretch out 4 or 6 flat breads. Cover and leave to rise for 15min preferably an hour.

Now the important bit.

If you want pitta, put a tray in the oven and set to about 200/220, once up to temp cook one or two at a time, they should puff up in a few minutes, as soon as they start to brown, take them out and start the next batch.

If you want naan you will need the biggest frying pan you have a lid for, you might find you have an oven tray or metal serving tray that's fits. Get the pan up to a reasonably high temperature, this will depend on whether you have gas, electric or electric induction. Dust the breads in flour or semolina and dry cook with the lid on for a few minutes each side. Don't be afraid to look, too hot is better than to cool. It does take a bit of practice.

Posted too soon, pittas.

Posts like that make me wish there was a like option on MN. They look amazing😍

Those sort of websites often make me loose the will to live op. There’s so much drivel posted before and after the actual recipe, that finding the damn thing can be nearly impossible. I follow a particular recipe page that has so many great recipes, but she writes a ton of blurb before each one. So annoying.

Oh my goodness I’m going to be on a bread mission for the next few days. Those pittas look amazing. Thank you!

@HRTeatime the pittas worked pretty much first time by round, the naan tooks years. Naan need high humidity, hence the lid.
