Looking for a butter/marg subsitute for dd who need more iron and protein in her diet.

Have only been about to find roasted nuts butter from health food shops and the little cowbag thinks they are disgusting.

My mother has this traditional recipe from Morocco

www.nicolesgourmetfoods.com/recipes/amlou_recipe.htm

Argan oil is extremely nutritious ( omegas) but impossible to come by in the UK.

I would suggest following the recipe but do not use salted almonds, roast very lightly to avoid smoky flavor and use good quality omega rich neutral vegetable oil.

Leave the honey out if you want, but might be more palatable for children.

As for nuts, almonds and cashews are the most protein rich I think.

It is yummy drizzled on warm toast/pita/paratas and pancakes.

thank you slim! I thought my thread would go unaswered for being a bit 'out there' as most of them seem to be.
