Creamy, easy sauce for fancy steaks - anyone got a recipe?

We've got some very nice steaks, and veg etc in the fridge. Need an easy recipe for a sauce though. I love cream, mushrooms, etc, so does anyone have a good foolproof (DH is cooking it) recipe?

Fry onion in butter till soft; add generous splash of white wine and a little mustard. Add sliced mushrooms and cook for a minute or two and then throw in some cream before serving.

sounds lovely robinpud, except for the onions - not really into them unfortunately...

Season the steaks with lots of black pepper. Sear the steak on either side then put them onto a tray in the oven. Deglaze the pan with brandy add the mushrooms and finely diced onion and garlic. Allow them to
cook for a minute, add cream and salt and pepper, allow the cream to reduce into a lovely sauce.

ropinpud, was about to post the exact same thing as Smiling. If you have good meat, just keep it simple. You could add a little garlic and mixed herbs. Don't worry if you don't have mustard. Red wine will do instead of white if you have one and not the other.
We're going out to eat later and you've got me salivating just thinking about your steaks!

THanks all, will print this out and give to DH! These really are quality steaks and I'd hate to waste them with ketchup!

cook the steaks and remove from pan. Add 2 tsp of crushed peppercorns and some creme fraiche to the pan. Stir for bit and then serve. Dead easy but delicious!

I would do what Carmenere said! sounds lovely and I'm not really into meat. My kids love it though
