Flavouring popcorn from a popcorn maker?

Hellenabe · 22/04/2023 21:49

We have been given a Lakeland popcorn maker to save money on snacks which is excellent but I haven't a clue how to flavour anything. I dont think you can add anything to it in the machine but my children love the sweet and salty taste. Any tips?

Spray with a low calorie spray (to make it sticky) and sprinkle sugar/salt to suit your taste.

We use maple syrup then salt, bit sticky but it works

DH warms salted caramel sauce and coats the popcorn in that.

Smoked paprika and a little salt makes a nice savoury popcorn.

I buy popcorn seasoning from Amazon, I love Sour cream and chives or garlic parmesan but there's loads of different options.

Aztec chocolate. I can’t remember the ratios but cocoa powder, sugar, cinnamon and chilli powder.

Hi there! I've used a popcorn maker before, as well as a popcorn machine rental for events. You're right; it's best not to add flavorings directly to the machine. After popping, try tossing the popcorn with melted butter, a pinch of salt, and a sprinkle of sugar for that sweet and salty combo your kids love. Enjoy!

A little bit of oil or melted butter stirred through, then - while all still hot - some very finely grated parmesan or similar cheese (from a packet is fine) with perhaps a small pinch of herbs (eg thyme, rosemary) and/or some black pepper. Also, as previous poster says, smoked paprika and some freshly ground salt can be very good.
You can buy things like onion powder from big wholefood dealers, such as BuyWholefoodsOnline. And also garlic salt - though any kind of salt not good for us in large quantities. They are also very tasty.

I'd suggest you learn to like it plain. 😁

Or, buy the popcorn book that I got in lakeland a few years back. Lots of popcorn ideas. None of them cheap, some absolutely lush. 😋
