Unripe papaya - What to do with it?

I got a papaya in a Too Good To Go box, it's pretty soft but I cut it open and it's totally unripe, seeds totally white. I've googled and it's 50/50 on "unripe papaya is poisonous" and "the miracle health benefits of unripe papaya"... Anyone know? And if it isn't poisonous, how do I actually eat it?

I think they are commonly used in Thai/Vietnamese salads? But please don't take my word for it. I do feel sure, however, that no British shop would stick a fruit that could kill you if you don't let it ripen. I'd imagine the poison is maybe if they are picked off the tree too early, not if they're still hard in the shops? Again - I don't know.

Aha - yes a search for 'Green papaya' yields a lot of results for Thai recipes - thank you. I was searching 'unripe papaya'. And yes, good point about the poison!
