Announcing veg in season on the weather forecasts

This is not my idea. I have stolen this from Jamie Oliver. I was watching one of his programmes the other day, within his series of vegetarian dishes/meat free dishes

He was talking about this, that if he had his way then the weather forecasters would announce what veg is in season.

I thought this was a great idea, particularly at a time when importing our fruit and veg has gone wrong and within the context of spiraling costs for things that are out of season.

I never hear or watch the weather. I get the forecast from an app on my phone.

I google if I'm stuck knowing what veg is in season.

Well online apps could include it

The point is, you think about it to prompt you to google it, its in your consciousness anyway. For lots of people veg just isnt on their consciousness, so they're not going to look it up

Its about exposure and visibility.

I’m all for more veggies, but that sounds quite pious.

In what way pious?

I was thinking its a good public information thing

I think it’s a great idea - you could then see what’s cheap at the greengrocers instead of paying through the nose for something out of season.

I think it's a great idea. People are so out of sync with the environment these days.
