What wine for no hangover?

I stopped drinking regularly years ago and very occasionally have had a glass of wine but felt terrible for days after. Is it the sulphites?
What could I buy so I can have a glass without feeling poisoned?
I exercise everyday so I don't want so much it will interfere with that!

Stick with water, unless you're a frequent drinker, you'll suffer!

Pinot noir...

Bizarre that’s never happened before when I’ve drank wine, if you spirits or other alcohol do you have the happen?

Eranzer · 01/04/2023 16:58

I think it's to do with the congeners(sp?). Have a Google of wine with the least congeners!
I also feel absolutely grim even after a single glass of wine. I just cannot drink it.

I knew a wine buyer years ago and he said to spend £10+ on a bottle as anything below is full of chemicals

Dry French Rose is usually OK for me.

I can't drink white as it gives me awful asthma and a banging headache.

Red is OK as long as its below 13% alcohol. I usually stick to pinot noir too.

Organic wine is less likely to cause hangovers - unless you drink the whole bottle of course!

CrkdLttrCrkdLttr · 01/04/2023 17:32

Biodynamic wine.

Trust me on this. Different league to organic wine. Not saying you won’t have a hangover if you drink more than you can easily take. But you’ll avoid those days of utter misery, depression and self hatred that one can experience after too much ‘ordinary’ wine.

It’s fun to discover too. You have to seek out new sources, and possibly spend more money. Quality over quantity …

Try organic Prosecco. I can't drink Prosecco without feeling like death the next day, a friend told me to try an organic wine and I don't get the headaches I used to get. Maybe try organic wine

AllMySocksHaveHolesInEm · 06/04/2023 08:52

Thanks for the tips.
So far I've tried organic wine and can confirm there is no 'poisoned' feeling for the days after!

Sulphites can cause some allergic reactions, but properly speaking a hangover (and its associated symptoms) is always due to excessive alcohol, which doesn't mean "a glass of wine".

Bear in mind that sulphites are found in a wide variety of processed foods as well as wine.

Where do you buy your biodynamic wine @CrkdLttrCrkdLttr ?

CrkdLttrCrkdLttr · 24/04/2023 20:09

Various online wine merchants! I think I started with Buon Vino - but nowadays I’m inclined to cross check the price of any bottle via Google, so I’m always stumbling on new, or new to me, shops.

Thanks! Googling biodynamic wine was bringing up all sorts of wine, including non-biodynamic 🙄 Will give buon vino a try 🍷

Switch from wine to spirits

Lcb123 · 25/04/2023 08:23

Switch to spirits plus they’re lower calories. I love wine but I suffer with it! But I could drink loads of gin and feel fine
