I have ibs. I've found tomatoes garlic and onions are triggers. Does anyone have any pasta sauce alternatives, everything seems to be tomatoes based?

concreterose31 · 12/03/2023 14:44

Salman flakes

girlsyearapart · 12/03/2023 14:45

Salmon !

Snoopystick · 12/03/2023 14:46

Elmlea is good for a sauce if you are ok with cream? Stick a load of Parmesan in it and if feeling fancy a load of herbs eg thyme for chicken and pasta, dill for salmon and pasta or parsley with just pasta

Make a roux sauce and add loads of cheese to it

Someone I know once accidentally used frozen strawberry pulp instead of frozen tomato pulp when making a bolognese, and that turned out surprisingly okay…?

Lemon juice
lemon zest
Fresh parsley
olive oil
plenty of marigold bullion stock
smashed up walnuts

mix of of that in a pan and heat then stir in pasta

CollieFIower · 12/03/2023 14:47

Leeks, finely sliced and sautéed, stirred in with some cream (I use oat cream)

What about that No-mato sauce, does that still exist?

EezyOozy · 12/03/2023 14:48

Also nigellas marmite spaghetti is good

It does!

Macaroni cheese

spinach and ricotta

pasta alfredo

ravioli (or other filled pasta) with melted butter and sage sauce

Whatineed · 12/03/2023 14:49

Roman pasta dishes apart from Amatriciana only use cheese:

Cacio e pepe
Gricia
And as mentioned by pp. Carbonate

Alfredo may also suit?

Accesscode · 12/03/2023 14:50

Carbonara
Cheese sauce (eg macaroni cheese)
Creamy mushroom.
Butter or olive oil, salt and pepper is nice
Pesto usually has garlic in but you could make your own without the garlic?

bert3400 · 12/03/2023 14:50

Hot smoked Salmon, cream/cream cheese and fresh Dill ....yummy

TheTeenageYears · 12/03/2023 14:51

Chicken, olive oil, lemon, black pepper & chilli plus parmesan if dairy isn't an issue.

AntiHop · 12/03/2023 14:53

Green pesto

Watto1 · 12/03/2023 14:53

I do a cheesy spinach pasta dish. Frozen spinach (or blitzed up fresh spinach) , handful of cheddar, big dollop of Philadelphia. Cook the spinach, mix in the cheeses so they melt in the warm spinach, stir in the cooked pasta.

I actually found this recipe in a recipe book for toddlers. The kids are now teens but we all still love it!

My Dd said a friend at uni has a tomato allergy and eats pasta mixed with chicken and gravy... why not...

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 12/03/2023 14:57

Carbonara or Pesto

I find that filled pasta like tortellini/ravioli etc are lovely just tossed in some butter and seasoning (there are some gorgeous fillings available now or of course you could make your own!)

Breadhead1 · 12/03/2023 14:59

Oh thanks, some great ideas. I don't know why I didn't think of cream based sauces and cheese!
