I need it to be family friendly as I’ve two quite fussy DD’s.

Thought about trying Turkey mince tacos but can’t find a recipe that has good reviews & the children will eat.

Turkey mince chili con carne is a firm fave here!

WednesdaysPlaits · 08/03/2023 11:18

Just use wherever you would use beef mince

Turkey meatballs in tomato and hidden veg sauce with spaghetti.

Spag bol, burgers or enchiladas.

Minesababycham · 08/03/2023 11:22

I do turkey meatballs with tomato sauce. Put packet of mince with handful of Parmesan and handful of breadcrumbs and roll into meatballs. Then just make a basic tomato sauce.

If you think your DC would be ok with it I usually go Thai with Turkey or chicken mince.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 08/03/2023 11:27

Thai spiced meatballs, obvs as spiced or mild as you like. Mince, finely chopped onion, Thai spice, fish sauce, soy sauce, mix, make into balls and bake or fry. We have them with stirfry veg and noodles

I cook it with some fajita seasoning and stuff it in peppers, roast in the oven for 20-odd minutes, top with cheese if you fancy. Serve with some cous cous and its delish.

2PintsOfCidernaBagofCrisps · 08/03/2023 11:30

I'd add that I use packet cous cous so zero faff.

Patties or burgers with feta, dill and grated courgette! Eat with tzatziki and a chopped salad

Kam610 · 08/03/2023 12:06

With Turkey or chicken mince I like to make my own nuggets. I add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and paprika, mix together and roll out into balls, then flatten slightly, and coat in breadcrumbs before putting into airfryer. Delicious and much better than shop bought as at least you know what's gone into them!

Is it breast or thigh mince, breast can be quite dry in things like meatballs

BIWI · 08/03/2023 13:28

Yotam Ottolenghi recipe is lovely

mrsfeatherbottom · 08/03/2023 14:14

I make this recipe with turkey mince and it's delicious. DD2 doesn't like it with lettuce so she has rice noodles.

Turkey mince keema pie - I'm making it tonight actually. It's delicious. Less chilly required though, a friend sent me a recipe and I think his chillis must have been toy ones.

Into the blender:

3 green chilli's
4 cloves garlic
2 large handfuls of fresh coriander
1 red chilli
Salt and pepper
Splash of water (maybe a little more than a splash)
Table spoon curry powder
Table spoon cumin

2 onions or 1 massive onion into the pan with fry light
Once they start to soften add your green liquid and cook down
In the meantime add to your 500-700g turkey mince, salt, pepper and a finely chopped green chilli
Once the green liquid is reduced and the onions are starting to cook add the mince and brown
In the meantime make 1 pint of beef stock
Once the mince is browned add stock and reduce
Once reduced - add frozen petis pois stir through and then set mince into casserole dish

The topping

Bag of sweet potatoes and 2 large white potato's, peeled and boiled until soft (sweet potatoes will take longer than the white)
Mash the boiled potatoes - add salt pepper, Table spoon of curry powder, Table spoon of turmeric
Spread the mashed potato on top of the mince mixture (sheperds pie style)
Into the oven for 30 mins 200 c

topofbighill · 08/03/2023 17:04

Sorry it's a suck eggs recipe - he typed it up for someone who doesn't cook much!

ColonelSpondleClagnut · 08/03/2023 17:36

Ooh @topofbighill I do keema curry lots but I'd never thought of putting a potato topping on it!
Definitely trying that next week! 😋

daretodenim · 08/03/2023 17:39

Great thread OP! Lots of ideas I'm interested in too!

Snowpaw · 08/03/2023 18:10

I make just basic little burgers out of them - bit of pepper mixed into the meat and maybe grated parmesan if I'm feeling fancy. My DD has always enjoyed them with ketchup

StoneWallandRoses · 08/03/2023 21:23

I recently used turkey mince. I made a savoury mince cobbler (mince, leeks, garlic, seasoning, tomato), simmered and then thickened with flour to make a good consistency.
Then I made suet dumplings. Divided the dough into small rounds and plonked onto top of the mince.
Baked in oven for 20 minutes and you have a finished product.
Fluffy suet dumplings on thick gravy mince, veggies and potatoes and gravy.
Cheap, wholesome, filling.

Turkey meatballs are great. Add grated courgette and fried onion plus herbs. No need for egg as they bind together easily. Fry about 10 mins, add passata for the sauce and cook about 20 mins.

Also turkey burgers minus sauce.
