Does an airfryer replace a George Foreman grill

Just that.
My George Fireman - well Lidl equivalent is about to give up and I was wondering if I can replace it with an Air Fryer ? All I ever do on it is sausages and they take an age. Would an air fryer brown the sausages nicely and cook quicker than on the GF grill ?an air fryer appears more versatile.
I only have a small countertop space.

Yeah stuff cooks quicker than a grill.

They are different devices. A George Foreman grill heats through conduction. An air fryer heats though convection. An air fryer is more versatile though.

Mrsjayy · 06/03/2023 18:48

Yes .it does the same .thing Dh uses the GF and switched to air frying sausages and bacon fine.

Georgyporky · 06/03/2023 19:38

AF is much more versatile -anything that can be grilled or baked (just a few exceptions) can be cooked in it.

walkies123 · 06/03/2023 19:47

Anything you can do on a George can be done in an air fryer.

Can an air fryer make a toastie? That
To one of the main uses for our grill!

CaptainMyCaptain · 06/03/2023 19:52

I have both but an air fryer is better for sausages. I mainly make toasted sandwiches in the George Foreman grill although it's good for chops or steak too.

Yes you can

picklemewalnuts · 06/03/2023 19:58

The only thing it won't do is press a panini. In every other way it's better.

Actually it doesn't press bacon either.

walkies123 · 06/03/2023 20:44

Things I've made in the air fryer

Fried eggs
Mushrooms
Toasties
Roasties
Boiled eggs (swear it works!)
Bacon
Fish
Sausages
Sirloin steak
Roast chicken breast

Mrsjayy · 06/03/2023 20:57

Boiled eggs ?

Google it! Honestly brilliantl

Mrsjayy · 06/03/2023 21:05

I can see how fried eggs work.. I'm off to Google.

purpledalmation · 06/03/2023 21:26

Yes, I've binned the grill and am very happy with the air fryer.

bellsbuss · 06/03/2023 21:33

I'm off to google how to cook eggs in an air fryer

picklemewalnuts · 06/03/2023 21:42

I do eggs in a silicon cupcake case.

I think you can preheat a saucer and crack them on, but the ramekin method is tidier...

Mrsjayy · 06/03/2023 22:43

I've googled , I have the ninja pot thing it says you can pressure cook boiled eggs that just sounds like a disaster zone 😄

picklemewalnuts · 07/03/2023 08:37

You absolutely can, no worries. I never get the timing right.

People go to great lengths to do 0min pressure, 1min NPR then plunge in cold water to get what they like. Or 1min pressure, immediate release etc.
can't be arsed, myself.

SavBlancTonight · 07/03/2023 11:47

Sausages is one of the main things I use my air fryer for. I love that I can stick them in and they basically cook with zero input from me and it takes about 11 minutes. Sometimes I give them a shake half way through, but sometimes I'm in the shower or doing something else and don't bother. Grilling sausages always involves extra flames/burnt bits etc over here and frying is too labour intensive and roasting is lovely, but takes forever. So the air fryer is a total win for that.

But it does take up space and becuase they're standing upright, I think they have more "presence" than a George Foreman would, if that makes sense. have mine stashed to the side of the stove so it's okay, but I do find it mildly annoying that it is so visible.

Vitriolinsanity · 07/03/2023 20:14

I have both,

The air fryer is currently cooking a roast dinner. Chicken with roast potatoes and carrots. Does a brilliant pork crackling joint.

It grills everything GF can without as much mess, you just throw the bits in the dishwasher.

Chicken is epic! It even knocked out a Toad in the Hole.

I haven't used my oven since Boxing Day, Dsis bought me the Ninja AF on Christmas Day.

Boo sucks to you smart meter!

Vitriolinsanity · 07/03/2023 20:15

Oh and ready meals are better than the Microwave- 10 minutes and it's better than the oven.

Which setting do you use for a ready meal ?

LaviniasBigBloomers · 07/03/2023 20:23

AF sausages are the absolute dogs! They get properly sticky and jammy, it's much easier than cleaning a grill, the smell doesn't go all over the house. SO good. I'm using my AF loads but sausages are the best thing.

Vitriolinsanity · 08/03/2023 19:12

@Vitalsigning airfry 11 minutes
