Can you freeze liquidised banana?

If you liquidise it with other fruits, eg tinned pears in juice or cooked apple? I'd've thought it'd go a bit gross & slimy on its own. I've just bought a huge bunch of the damn things & am trying to avoid the tedium of washing up the liquidiser after whizzing ONE banana!

i really dont think you can im afraid, cant remember why

I don't think bananas freeze at all well, but no need to liquidise them, just mash one up with a fork.

I know that if you freeze it on its own it goes black. A friend of mine did something like mango and banana with lemon juice and I think that was all right - but I know she had to scrape something off the top of it!

I never liquidised banana by the way, just mashed it with a for - you can get it quite runny that way

PickasillyChristmasName · 06/12/2004 16:14

Think the top scrapings were something to do with the sugar in the fruit that had risen upwards.

Rightoh, I'll just stick to mashing them individually then - sure I've seen jars of baby goo with banana in, though. How do Heinz etc stop it from going black & slimy? Or is that one of those questions I really don't want to know the answer to? Wink

Think it's something to do with the Vitamin C (otherwise known as ascorbic acid) which is often added. I think it stops things going black/brown etc.

lemon juice will stop them going black I think. Or just make lots of yummy banana cake and freeze that?

Now that's a good idea - be a bit wasted on ds though, he's still at the puree stage!

I actually liquidised 1 banana, 2 tinned pears, a shake of Heinz baby rice & a small quantity of EBM in the end & what he didn't eat sat quite happily in the fridge over night, without going black, & was wolfed down for breakfast.

Must be the scotch in the EBM! Wink
