Fish fingers

OP posts:

Marmite cashews to start
Crustless quiche with cheesy mash and frozen mixed veg for the main
and for dessert - Christmas pudding ice cream
A galleon of gin to wash it all down with a spearmint Rennie chaser

Whattheladybird · 20/02/2023 00:41

There’s a batch of lentil and bacon soup, but also sweet potatoes and parsnips a plenty to make an orange-y root veg soup to start with. Could probably do some sort of kale crisps as a topping. Made a focaccia over the weekend, the leftovers of which would make a good crouton.

For mains, it doesn’t take much to make a pack of risotto rice go far, but I’d probably look at the dried mushrooms at the back of the cupboard.

Or there’s a frozen lasagne I made yesterday that could go anywhere.

and there’s always the ingredients in for a few different sorts of veggie curry - chickpeas, frozen spinach, lentils, etc.

benten54 · 20/02/2023 00:42

By the looks of my empty cupboard and fridge it would be 'DOG EGG SURPRISE'
Dog kibble
Old eggs
Sushi rice
Tin of banana blossom

NeverDropYourMooncup · 20/02/2023 00:44

Lots of different curries.

Sushi. Yakitori. Miso soup. GF tempura.

GF pasta and antipasti.

ThomasWaghornsConeHat · 20/02/2023 00:47

Chicken curry. Or beans on toast.

Warmhandscoldheart · 20/02/2023 00:52

Prawns in seafood sauce on a bed of cucumber or pate with crackers

Diced chicken, mushrooms and bacon in a white wine sauce(jar)
with either rice, pasta or potatoes

A bar of mint aero

Delicious 😋

RobertsRadio · 20/02/2023 01:04

Home made Leek and potato soup
Shop bought meatballs and pasta bake with roast parsnips and green beans
Home made apple and raspberry crumble and custard
Cheddar, Gruyère and garlic and herb cheese board with fresh baked French stick

Sherry, choice of spirits - although only have tonic water mixers, red, rose and white wines, champagne and choice of liqueurs or port.

Bon appetite.

AdaColeman · 20/02/2023 01:16

Plenty of nibbles to go with drinks, olives, little biscuits etc.

Pâté and toast to start.
Fish stew with haricot blanc or sausages with puy lentils for main.

Not much in the pudding line except ice cream, but plenty of cheese & crackers.
Chocolates & coffee to finish.

Floomobal · 20/02/2023 01:22

Tempura prawns to start, macaroni cheese, ALDI ice cream wafers for dessert.

Gingerkittykat · 20/02/2023 01:38

Home made leek and potato soup.
Greggs sausage rolls from the freezer with a side of frozen mixed veg.
A tin of lychees.

At least I've got a nice coffee machine!

FlowerPows · 20/02/2023 02:11

Bruschetta
Lasagne with purple stem broccoli on the side and garlic mushrooms
Greek yogurt with honey and blueberries or apple crumble and custard

BenCoopersSupportWren · 20/02/2023 02:25

Starter - tomato soup, or mushroom & asparagus frittata

Main - either Spanish chicken with chorizo served with rice or salmon on a bed of creamed leeks with an, ahem, ‘massive salad’.

Pudding - I’d struggle here as we never have one. I could probably rustle up some flour-free pancakes with Greek yoghurt and berries.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 20/02/2023 02:49

I'd struggle with a starter, maybe soup. We've got some part baked bread so could have that with it.

Lots of options for mains, including guinea fowl. I'd do it in lime sauce, but would have to be with rice. Usually I'd serve it with green veg but we haven't got any in, so it would have to be with carrots.

Dessert would be pear and almond pudding with ice cream.

GoldCherub · 20/02/2023 02:54

Blue cheese, chicory, pear and walnut salad as that’s what I’m making for lunch tomorrow.

Not much else in except for frozen peas, pancetta, mackerel, tinned tomatoes and eggs.

Only alcohol is a bottle of unopened pastis that must be at least 5 years old.

shopping arriving tomorrow.

fairtrauchled · 20/02/2023 10:54

Homemade leek and potato soup, sirloin steak with homemade potato wedges, mushrooms, onion rings ,grilled tomato and apple crumble with custard, cream or ice cream for dessert.

Singleorigincoffee · 27/02/2023 11:44

Hummus, veg crudites and chips.

Maybe some plain pasta and peas

Basically it's a toddler picnic

kateandme · 27/02/2023 16:45

Veggie soup
Salmon cheese and leek sauce or dauphinois
Ice cream mirangue berries and melon

TheOldLadyOfThreadneedleStreet · 27/02/2023 17:05

Hot and sour soup
Garlic and ginger chicken thighs with egg fried rice, or noodle stir fry
any cake, have all the ingredients, perhaps choc brownies, or Bakewell tart

could also do pork meatballs, gravy, mash and veggies

I’m off to cook dinner now actually, it will be chicken loaf ( like a meat loaf but with chicken and grated carrots), mash and broccoli, plus gravy

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/02/2023 19:24

Starter - all I can think of is sweetcorn fritters (nice but weird as a starter) or spinach soup (horrible)

Main - veggie risotto or veggie spaghetti bolognaise / could have homemade garlic flatbreads to bulk it out a bit

Pudding - rice pudding or pancakes, or I could probably knock a cake together

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/02/2023 19:25

Or I could do a veggie sausage casserole with hassle back potatoes

wednesdaynamesep · 27/02/2023 23:26

Starter: Tomato soup and homemade dinner rolls

Main: Veggie Lasagne and salad

Dessert: Plum cobbler and ice cream

All from the freezer, except the salad
