How long do you keep Philadelphia when opened?!

It says "To enjoy this product at its best, consume within one week of opening". Would it still be ok for a couple of days longer?! I get an upset stomach very easily, so wouldn't want to risk eating it if it could be off.

Btw, it's the original one, rather than low fat, if that makes any difference.

Until it goes furry to be honest 🙈

milkmonitor20 · 18/02/2023 09:23

Also until it goes furry. Definitely more than a week.

custardbear · 18/02/2023 09:25

I'm the same, pink fur and it's bin
time

Scarecrowrowboat · 18/02/2023 09:25

Until the mould

MonkeyPuddle · 18/02/2023 09:26

Until the fur, and to be honest I’ll sometimes just scoop that bit out and carry on using the tub.

dementedpixie · 18/02/2023 09:28

If it doesn't look mouldy then I'd still use it

ElaOfSalisbury · 18/02/2023 09:29

A week. I write the date on the lid when I open it.

RobinGood · 18/02/2023 09:30

If it’s not furry and smells fine I’d still use it.

PacificallyRequested · 18/02/2023 09:31

Definitely more than a week! Probably a couple of weeks for one of the "family size" (LOL) tubs, I just eat it until it's finished.

woodhill · 18/02/2023 09:32

Until black mould but eat the other bits avoiding it itms

FrenchandSaunders · 18/02/2023 09:33

It goes furry quite quickly

inappropriateraspberry · 18/02/2023 09:34

Until it's eaten or has been forgotten in the back of the fridge and has gone mouldy!

dudsville · 18/02/2023 09:35

Nooooo. Basically we never open a pack until we know we're committed to seeing it through within the week. You can always bung the remaining cream cheese into a sauce at the end of the week. We always buy small packs now. It's more expensive but it means we never waste any or risk eating cheese that's started to mould but before it's visible.

ladymacbeth · 18/02/2023 09:35

Only a week or two. I tend to buy the snap pots to avoid waste

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 18/02/2023 09:38

Yeah, we wait for the mould as well. Normally it stays good for at least 3weeks.

MumOf2workOptions · 18/02/2023 09:42

I tend to buy it and we have it for 2 days in different stuff and sometimes I make a cauliflower cheese and add some in and freeze it to use it up

I'm a bit funny about stuff going off I get an upset tummy easily so I'm very careful

Oblomov23 · 18/02/2023 09:46

Until it goes furry.

I have been known to scrape the fur off 😊

OnLockdown · 18/02/2023 10:07

I didn't even know you were supposed to eat it within a week. Mine probably lasts about three weeks and it's never gone mouldy or furry in that time.

raguragu · 21/02/2023 12:36

Smell it
