Feeding a crowd

Hey, I'm having a party, 20/25 people over dinner time until late,
I'm stuck on what to cook, have previously done alot of buffets so a bit fed up of them.
Have also done cuban beef/ rice salad / chicken trat bake a few times and that was a hit.
What crowd pleasing meal can I cook?
Only requirements are no mince and no fish
Thankyou!

My go-to crowd pleasers:
Fajitas or tacos
Sausage casserole and jacket potatoes
Bbq pulled pork buns, sweet potato wedges and coleslaw
Chicken tagine, falafel, couscous and flatbreads

Chilli, (either use chopped rump steak and cook low and slow, or just make it veggie), particularly good because you can add in lots of extras, rice, salsa, guacamole, sour cream tortilla chips.
Curries, one meat, one veg, one Dahl, popodoms, naan, mango chutney, samosas and bhajis.
Sausage casserole
Coq au vin
Chicken tagine with jewelled cous cous
Slow cooked lamb with pita, falafel, salads

For that many people, I would either do a couple of pork shoulders or lamb shoulders/legs (ora combination, I guess), slow cooked, served with a variety of sides (the majority of which I'd be doing in advance). If it can be cold, you could do a couple of cold roast chickens, a large roast beef and a ham or something, mostly done in advance.

Or, some kind of big casseroles/stew/ curry type thing.

It's a lot of people to feed in one go so anything that involves lots of chopping and slicing and cooking in frying pans is likely to be complicated and hard work.

Pulled pork with buns as the carb (can also add potato wedges) apple sauce and coleslaw

Of more informal than a couple of big Mac and cheese with toppings to add (bacon, crispy onions, roasted tomatos etc) and a green salad

Brownies and ice cream/cream for pudding

I love either a chilli made with proper beef or slow cooked lamb shoulder with Middle Eastern sides

Do a chilli or curry
A lasagna
A mac & cheese

I can't be the only one that thought you were recommending a Mc Donald's run with the Big Mac's! 😄

I thought the same! And thought it was genius!
Thanks for the ideas all!

Big stew and dumplings
Chicken and bacon pie
Curry
Jackets
Tacos
Fajitas

silverbubbles · 19/02/2023 21:23

lamb tagine with a lovely herby, nutty cous cous. Can be prepared well in advance and everyone loves it

pork stroganoff with rice. A rice cooker is brilliant for large numbers and it comes out perfectly.

pavillion1 · 19/02/2023 21:29

im impressed you have enough cutlery

Rosiepeta · 19/02/2023 21:36

I went with
2 chillies
Chicken fajitas( like build your own )
Bowls of , salad, cheese , salsa , tortillas etc
Slaw
Rice ( slightly overcooked so maybe I need to invest in a rice cooker?!)
Roasted potatoes with rosemary and chorizo
It was a hit!
Followed with brownies and ice cream
I actually didn't have enough cutlery and didn't even think of it so last minute dash and found some wooden recyclable ones!
Thankyou all,
saving these ideas for next time !
