Flat cupcakes

I need to make some cupcakes with a flat top. Mine always peak, I know I can just cut that off but is there a good foolproof recipe/method for making flat cupcakes?!

Lower the oven temp and bake for longer, the average equal quantities flour/sugar/butter plus egg victoria sandwich type recipe will bake flat at a lower temp. If there is more flour than the other ingredients then more likely to peak but temp is the key really. I like a nice rounded dome myself, you can use less buttercream so better ratio

Thanks for the advice. Doesn't j bother me normally but we're decorating with fondant so they need to be flat for that. Stupid school project!
