5 day old cookies

I feel ridiculous even typing this.... but here it goes. 5 day old cookies made from a kids packet mix to which you added egg. Are they safe to eat? I mean I'd probably eat a sponge cake up to a week after making it so I'm not sure why these are bothering me. Perhaps because my kids ate them, not me.

The egg will have been thoroughly cooked in the baking process, so no worries there. They might be a bit stale but nothing that would harm you.

QuestionableMouse · 02/02/2023 18:24

They're probably stale but they're not going to be harmful.

TangledWebOfDeception · 02/02/2023 18:25

Yes of course they’ll be fine. No need to worry.

As others have said they'll be safe to eat although likely stale, you could pop them in oven/af or microwave to see if that'll revive them a bit. Next time though if you have spares that haven't been eaten, pop them in the freezer. You can freeze cake, brownies, cookies and they'll come out after defrosting as though you had baked them that day!

Sorry, (not sorry) but the important question here is why the hell do you have 5 day old cookies? They’d have a life expectancy of around 5 minutes or less in these neighbourhoods.

Thank you everyone, rationally I knew this was the case!

@Alphabet1spaghetti2 hahaha, same usually. The DC had eaten half each of 2 rather large cookies and stashed the remainder in their bedroom unbeknown to me!

Ah! Midnight feasts are excellent. You must reward them with a stash of pop and sweets for next time!!

I can't believe they were sneaky enough to do it to be honest! First time they've done something like this... 4 year old twins!
