Tesco said it's tomorrow, seems very early though!

What could I shove in a pancake that my fruit rejecting 18 month old might eat, any thoughts?

bananas and nutella?

Glammama · 04/02/2008 18:21

I know you said fruir rejecting but would the nutella be a big enough draw?

It is early, because its really Shove Tuesday and therefore the day before lent, so since Easter is early, then pancake day must be early too!

Oh and bananas and nutella is my choice of filing too!

bohemianbint · 04/02/2008 18:24

Bananas are the only fruit he will do so that could be a winner - and he did show signs of warming to pears earlier but on the whole he finds fruit amusing and pointless. Unless you can hide it in custard or sommat.

Really quite fancy pancakes myself right now.

So when is Easter then? I love the way it moves every year, I did read about why once, isn't it all moon related?

23rd March is Easter Sunday I believe.

Glammama · 04/02/2008 18:25

I love pancakes, made some drop scones with blueberries in yesterday morning and they were all jammy and yummy. Sometimes we have stawberries and spray cream too

MaureenMLove · 04/02/2008 18:29

I think it is something to do with the moon, yes. You will also note that Mothers day is early this year, because it is actually calling Mothering Sunday and falls on the 4th Sunday in Lent every year! (2nd March)

Full of useless info tonight, I am!

Wisteria · 04/02/2008 18:31

Puree up some stewed apples with banana and spread on the pancake before you roll it up - fruit is then hidden

tassisssss · 04/02/2008 18:31

stewed apple and chocolate sauce is remarkably nice

lemon and sugar

bananas and maple syrup

yum

FoghornLeghorn · 04/02/2008 18:31

Oooooh yum !
How do I make pancakes again ?

Glammama · 04/02/2008 18:32

Gosh, I'm 36 weeks pregnant and want a banana nutella pancake or three NOW.

luckylady74 · 04/02/2008 18:32

savoury ones - have done chicken and broccoli in a white sauce, but tbh golden syrup with blueberries is nicer

flack · 04/02/2008 18:32

Mince, sour cream and tomato sauce with cheese melted over the top (recipe in book DS got from school library).
Then he announced he doesn't like pancakes any more, says he is just having porridge tomoro night, instead -- oh well, it's cheaper than eggs and milk.
We just do honey and lemon for the sweet pancakes.

Wisteria · 04/02/2008 18:34

oooh - good luck glammama, you shall be dropping any day now.

Hands glammama a big fat american pancake filled with banana, strawberries and chocolate chips, drizzled with maple syrup

Glammama · 04/02/2008 18:34

100g flour, add a pinch of salt, make a well, add half of 1/2 pint of milk and a tsp melted butter, whisk, add the remaining half of milk and whisk again till smooth batter. Drop spoonful into hot pan, swirl, cooko for a minute, flip and cook for anothe r minute. makes about 8 or 4 really thick ones!

Glammama · 04/02/2008 18:35

Thanks Wisteria [bites hand off pancake proffering Wisteria]

ChippyMinton · 04/02/2008 18:36

nutella, maple syrup, golden syrup, honey - anything sweet & sticky

Glammama · 04/02/2008 18:36

Forgot the egg in that recipe. I add it with the first half of the milk.

hellish · 04/02/2008 18:39

Squeeze a lemon/ orange over pancake, add sugar - of course. Fillings??? [shakes head at new fangled ideas..]
