Decent decaf instant coffee recommendations?

I nearly wrote cheap but I'm guessing that cheap decaf coffee is just horrible?

I've tried Alcafe (Aldi I think?) and it's awful. Are the branded (Kenco, Nescafé, etc) coffees any better? Don't want to waste money on something that I'll only drink once because it's too bitter/ horrible.

M+s instant decaff is my favourite, it's about a fiver for a big jar

Fivemoreminutes1 · 06/01/2023 18:42

Nescafé Gold Blend

OneBiscuitAtATime · 06/01/2023 18:43

Percol is the best I’ve found, not particularly cheap though.

PolliFlinders · 06/01/2023 18:44

Douwe Egberts is pretty good.

FictionalCharacter · 06/01/2023 18:50

Douwe Egberts is good. DH stocks up when it’s on offer.

Pipperleen · 06/01/2023 18:51

L’Or decaf is pretty good, that’s what I choose.

PainterInPeril · 06/01/2023 19:03

Carte Noir/L'Or decaf. I find the secret is to boil the kettle then wait for a minute before pouring over the coffee. That prevents the bitterness.

Mushroo · 06/01/2023 19:03

Nescafé Azera is decent

StrikeandRobin · 06/01/2023 19:05

What usual coffee do you drink? Do they do a decaf version?

I used to drink nescafe so now drink nescafe decaf.

Jux · 06/01/2023 19:06

If you add a few grains of salt - literally only a couple of grains - it can make all the difference between an undrinkably bitter coffee and one that's OK. I gave up sugar in coffee overnight when I discovered that putting salt in made it palatable.

If you can taste the sale you've put in too much!

Jux · 06/01/2023 19:06

...if you can taste the salt...... obvs

RNBrie · 06/01/2023 19:06

I only drink decaf and Nescafe Azera I'd my favourite.

SleeptightDaisy · 06/01/2023 19:08

Percol is lovely. They did sell it in most supermarkets but I've noticed a few have stopped selling most varieties of decaf.

Craghopper1 · 06/01/2023 19:13

Nescafé Azera decaf is great. Only instant coffee I'll drink!

Oakdog · 06/01/2023 19:18

Azera here too!

downnew · 06/01/2023 19:21

I like Azera best but I only buy it when it's on offer. Douwe Egberts is okay too. Currently using Lidl as that's all I could get before Christmas and it's actually not too bad for a cheap option.

30not13 · 06/01/2023 19:24

Tesco with the blue lid

kittybiscuits · 06/01/2023 19:26

Percol is the only decent one.

wintersacomin · 06/01/2023 19:49

The Lidl generic one is the most tolerable I've found for everyday - have to have decaf else migraines kick in and don't buy Nestle products.

Greatly · 06/01/2023 19:51

Azera for decaff
Gold blend espresso for caff

All others taste like gravy granules

SallyWD · 06/01/2023 19:52

Percol is expensive but good. Most brands use harsh chemicals to strip the caffeine out. Percol doesn't.

Yutes · 06/01/2023 19:52

Percol and l’or

stay away from carte noire. It is an awful decaf!

PointyMcguire · 06/01/2023 19:52

Has to be Taylor’s of Harrogate for me. Got me through my need for coffee throughout pregnancy when I was trying to do my utmost to avoid caffeine.

I used to drink nescafe so now drink nescafe decaf.

I tend to use the coffee pods to make my coffee. They're L'or or Jacobs usually.

Thank you for the suggestions

Can you buy decaf coffee pods on amazon or on the brands website?

You can only buy rabbit cat food online now, I havent seen it on the shelves in ages so they dont always sell everything in shops.
