Food flask

Not sure I'm on the right topic really but thought I'd start here. I'm trying to find a food flask which will keep food preferably hot but warm would be ok for 5 hours. I've bought and returned 3 of them now all of which had good reviews.

Please help if anyone has found the holy grail.

I bought DS a Thermos King food flask for his school lunch when he wants something hot. He hasn't complained so assume it does the job.

Suasthuasanuas · 02/01/2023 21:37

The trick is to fill up the flask with boiling water for about 5 mins, then empty and put the hot food straight in. If you haven't tried that before then I recommend with whichever one you get next. It makes all the difference.

Yeah I tried that with all of them. It was still just tepid.

Dd has a thermos and a SHO one. Hasn't complained about them

EveryoneButSam · 02/01/2023 21:41

I also have a Thermos king and find it works really well. I use it to take soup to work and sometimes it's still too hot for me to eat 4 hours later.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 02/01/2023 21:44

We have both thermos and SHO, both work fine. We book the kettle and fill then shower, breakfast etc. Microwave the food (usually leftovers from night before) until scalding hot then pour the hot water out and bung the food in. They work best when fully filled, partially full cools faster.

Ah that's annoying for you. There was me thinking I had the problem solved. Hope you find something that works.

dudsville · 02/01/2023 21:46

OP, I'm just about to start doing this, so I'm curious, which are the three that failed you?

We swear by Stanley

I have a thermos king and it’s great, the trick is to warm it with boiling water for 5-10 minutes to get it hot and put the food when it’s very hot, almost too hot to eat.
I’ve had all sorts in mine, soup, pasta, chilli, curry, even beans and sausages.
I also use it to ‘cook’ porridge, put some oats in and pour very hot milk over the top then stir, I have my breakfast 2 hours after getting to work and it’s perfectly cooked, just add honey or fruit and it’s ready to eat.

Above are links to 2 of the rubbish ones. The 2nd one I should've read better as it actually only states 2-3 hours so my fault.

The 3rd one was a random reduced one from tk max can't remember the brand but it had bears on it sorry not much help 😂

Definately a Stanley. Worth every penny. DP works outside - stays boiling hot all day, we take them up hills, camping etc. Wouldn't use anything else.

marriednotdead · 02/01/2023 22:11

I bought this one for DP a couple of years ago and it’s been brilliant. Made a flask of tea late afternoon and it was still hot next morning.
