According to my husband, there's just about enough meat on the turkey crown for a few sandwiches but I've just taken all the meat off the carcass and there is a lot left! Please give me your best turkey leftover recipes! I have a lot of turkey to use up!

Is this from Xmas day? I’d bin it. 3 days max.

Pr1mr0se · 29/12/2022 12:01

I've used quite a few from here, all easy to follow and pretty accurate: www.bbc.co.uk/food/leftover_turkey

I would chuck it now to be honest.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 29/12/2022 12:08

I'd still eat it if it looks and smells OK and has been in the fridge. If you're confident it's still OK to eat you could freeze it for another time. Chop or slice and freeze in a tub or bag, ready to add to a curry sauce, for example.

Chicken is usually fine for 4 days
If it smells OK it should be fine

Yeah, I was thinking it's probably near the end now! I'll make a curry today with some of it and bin the rest 👍🏻

I wouldn't eat it now but if I had to it would be a turkey and ham pot pie

longtompot · 29/12/2022 12:55

Everyone saying you wouldn’t eat it four days after cooking, how old do you reckon all the cooked/sliced poultry you buy in the supermarket is?

piebald · 29/12/2022 19:14

Well I have eaten some of mine tonight and I’m not dead yet! Fried onions, peppers, celery, ginger , garlic and chili, chucked in leftover turkey. It was delicious

Talipesmum · 29/12/2022 19:17

We made this a couple of days ago - v good, though kids found it v spicy and that was without the extra hot sauce. Adjust cayenne as required:

Turkey and ham pie filling, put in the freezer when cooled.

chop an onion, sweat in oil for 10 minutes. Melt in 1 oz butter. Add 2 tbsp flour and 1 tsp mustard powder, mix and cook for a minute. Take off heat and mix in about 600 ml stock made with half milk and half water, add in any left over gravy. Bring to boil stirring all the time until thickened. Add in chopped left over ham and turkey. Cook over low heat for 20 minutes. Cool.
