How long does boiled chicken last?

Hello, I brought some boneless chicken fillets and it says use by 24 December. It’s 24th December today and I’m going to boil it for my sick pet to help get her to eat. Is it safe to refrigerate afterwards when it’s cool down or no due to it stating use by todays date? Think I know the answer but just want to double check as wouldn’t want to make her have a bad tummy.

thank you :)

If you cook it today and refrigerate it then it will be fine for another few days.

Safe for another 3 days once cooked and refrigerated quickly.

3 days after cooking with humans you include the cooking day. With a dog or cat you'd easily get away with 5 - they aren't susceptible to the same bacteria but I wouldn't want chicken older than 5 days sitting about in my fridge

I agree with 5 days as long as you cook it thoroughly, cool it quickly then refrigerate. It doesn’t matter that the sell by is today; it’s still within date.
