Hi all, made 2 chocolate sponges for Christmas today, planning to assemble & ice on Friday to eat Christmas Day / Boxing Day. Do I need to freeze them? I have wrapped in clingfilm & foil. Thanks!

I would definitely freeze them to stop them getting stale. I've also heard that icing cakes is easier when frozen.

Definitely easier to ice when frozen. I always used to do this with my children's birthday cakes
