Churro batter recipe for churro maker

I bought a churro maker from Aldi last year and it's never been taken out of the box! Does anyone have a recipe that they have used that works well?

I asked my mum who grew up in Spain - she said to mix 300ml boiling water with 50g butter or olive oil and then sift in 250g flour, 1/2tsp salt and 1tsp baking powder - whisk till no lumps left and let it rest at least 15 mins.

However...that's for frying churros in oil, so not sure if it will work in a maker! If you've never taken it out of the box, have you checked to see if there's a recipe in the instructions booklet?
