Cooking for a crowd…

I’m cooking for a crowd of 12 this coming weekend. I’m planning to do a chilli with braising steak, could I do it in a big stock pot on the hob? I don’t have a stock pot but thinking of getting one…
I’ve only ever cooked this in a casserole dish for 4. Not sure if the stock pot would be suitable?

I think so.

Yes, just stir frequently so It doesn’t catch on the bottom.

It'll be fine or do you have a slow cooker?

A big stock pot is always a useful thing. Yes to cooking a large casserole in it. If you get one with metal handles, it could go into the oven, too, on a low temperature.

Are you cooking rice to go with it? That will need a big pot or, failing that, scrounge up some slow cookers for the occasion.

Thanks all, very helpful. Yes, I forgot about the rice… might see if I can borrow a slow cooker too.

If you Sidney want to serve with rice you could do jackets or wedges in the oven.
